Here’s a tremendous instrument built by Manuel Contreras the first!

Manuel Contreras, born in Madrid in 1928, began his professional activity as a guitar builder from the advantageous position of being a sought-after cabinetmaker of great prestige.

It was José Ramírez third who, in 1959, and knowing his great reputation, proposed him to join his guitar workshop. Within three years he had sufficiently developed his skill in the trade to establish himself, in 1962, as an independent guitar builder in Madrid.

Although Contreras should not be considered a luthier opposed to tradition, his work shows us a builder much more open than most of his contemporaries to new ideas and developments, which led him to work, since the early 1970s, on various unusual instruments.

This guitar features woods and craftsmanship of the highest quality including a Cedar top with crazy beautiful dark brazillIan rosewood back and sides with beautiful wide mineral streaks.

The guitar was built by Contreras only a few years before his passing and has been with the original owner since the orifinal time of purchase,
