Gibson SG Standard 1968 - Cherry

A breathtaking SG Standard from 1968!
The guitar was professionally refinished back to the original Cherry nitrocellulose finish by a well known luthier. She’s got no neck or heel breaks just a small jack/ cavity repair that is almost invisible. All the parts are original apart from the tuners and 2 pots.
The original black sticker patent number pickups still have the factory solder and are unopened, the pickups sound phenomenal! They have a sort of natural reverb to them and also some single coil Tele-like qualities that good PAFs are known for.

The long Vibrola tailpiece functions great as its a much stiffer one than others that we usually see. The bridge is original patent number wire Abr-1 with the nylon saddles swapped out for 70s mighty mite Brass Saddles which have worn down so nice and rounded. The original pickguard has had another pickup in the middle at some point but the owner kept the piece he sawed off and its almost invisible, the guitar was not routed as these 68’s come with a swimming pool route from the factory. There’s also a small plugged hole with mahogany, possibly an old mini switch, it’s now almost invisible, there are also a few faint dots in the finish on the back.

It’s also good to note that 68’ is the last year of true Gibson design still with a one piece Honduran mahogany neck and body!

The guitar has had a professional refret and the nut replaced. It’s ready to Rock n Roll!! It Also includes the original Gibson case and owners manual, both in excellent condition!

Weighs just 3.2kg
