Supro Coronado 1590 ‘Val Trol’ 1960 - Ebony

An exceptionally rare and super cool Supro Coronado model 1590 from 1960!

This fantastically quirky hollowbody guitar sounds and plays great. It retains all of its original parts apart from the bridge and Bigsby (which is a vintage B7 Bigsby). These Supro guitars came equipped with a piezo-like pickup inside the bridge, this is no longer inside the guitar and to be honest you’re not missing anything!

The Ralph Keller single coil pickups are absolutely fantastic, the neck pickup is very warm/ jazzy and the bridge pickup is very round and raunchy! The ‘Kord King’ neck has a little allen key adjustment under the strap button which you could use to adjust the angle of the neck.

There are also two string trees installed because of the negative pitch on the headstock that most if not all of these Supro's have. This guitar was built with the electronics completely installed before closing it up from the back (strange design!)

There is absolutely no place where you can access the electronics for repair or maintenance so the previous owners cut out a little back door on the back using the same wood from the guitar itself. Other Supro Coronados which we have seen usually include block inlays on the fretboard but this one has dots, there is no chance that the fretboard was replaced and it is 100% original to the guitar, it’s just a little curious anomaly.

The frets are in great shape and this Supro plays great without any issues. The guitar is nicely aged and worn in with a lot of weather checking all throughout.

Comes in a nice high quality softcase
