A beautiful Gibson made capital lap steel from 1937! Capital was one of the many different brands that Gibson made and distributed at the time along with Cromwell, Recording King, Kalamazoo and so on. The capital brand was specifically made for the Jenkins Music Company up in Kansas which was also one of the largest suppliers of musical instruments at the time.
This lap steel is in 100% original condition and very nicely looked after. It features a beautiful flame maple top and back , along with a bound Brazilian rosewood fretboard with a really cool center stripe. The original Kluson machine heads work great and have had two of the buttons repaired. The ‘blade’ pickup sounds fantastic! It’s really cool to get to hear these early pickups in action, it sounds wide and very clear. from what we could find, it looks like only SIX of these lap steels were ever shipped out making it a very rare instrument.
Comes with a vintage tone bar and a newer Martin Terz hardcase.
